Made By We (Hafiz Akinlusi, Kene Esomeju, Mada Phiri and Vanessa Fajemisin) is a community-centred creative project focused on ideas. Existing at the intersect of where creativity and culture meet, MBW explores themes and stories through images, design, objects and conversation. Regardless of scale or scope, everything MBW does is starts with intention, and is rooted in their unique histories, experiences and values. MBW’s 009 Taikan collaboration, featuring a quote and graphic inspired by the works of Emory Douglas, explores the frustration experienced when engaging with oppressive systems daily—and the healing that comes from being in a community.
As part of the 009 graphics collection, we teamed up with Made By We to create more than just a graphic tee. With the artwork generated by Mada Phiri, the MBW Plain Tee features a quote and graphic inspired by the works of Emory Douglas, explores the frustration experienced when engaging with oppressive systems daily—and the healing that comes from being in a community. Partial proceeds from the tees will be donated to NAACP.
